TRPV1 agonist vanilloid for research on nociception/thermosensation; research use only (CAS 457643‑60‑6).
Rinvanil (N‑vanillyl‑ricinoleamide) is a capsaicin‑like vanilloid used as a TRPV1 agonist for research on pain/heat sensing and downstream signaling in cells and animal models.
⚠️ Research chemical — no approved medical uses or human dosing. Exposure activates TRPV1 and can induce burning, pain, and inflammation.
Mechanism: activates TRPV1 (capsaicin receptor) to probe nociception/thermosensation and associated signaling pathways. In vivo, TRPV1 activation can trigger pharmacological hypothermia in animal studies (thermoregulation model). Preclinical reports (in vitro) describe cytotoxic/pro‑apoptotic effects in certain cancer cell lines; these are exploratory findings and not clinical therapy.
Sourcing and references commonly cite chemical suppliers and indexed literature databases (e.g., major reagent vendors; PubMed/PMC).
CAS Number: 457643‑60‑6
Synonyms: N‑vanillyl‑ricinoleamide; Rinvanil
Research Applications:
- TRPV1 activation assays (cells/neurons); pathway mapping and desensitization kinetics
- Thermoregulation models in animals (TRPV1‑mediated hypothermia)
- Exploratory oncology research (preclinical, in vitro) — apoptosis/cytotoxicity screens
Handling & Safety: Irritant via TRPV1 activation; avoid contact/inhalation; use appropriate PPE and engineering controls. Follow SDS guidance; do not apply to humans or animals outside approved protocols.
