Product Description:
Methoxyfenozide is primarily used as an insect growth regulator in agriculture. It controls a wide range of lepidopteran pests in crops such as fruits, vegetables, and ornamental plants. It works by mimicking ecdysone, a natural insect molting hormone, which triggers premature molting in larvae. This disrupts their development, leading to death during or before molting.
It is especially effective against caterpillars that damage crops, including species like codling moth, fruit borers, and leafrollers. Because of its selective mode of action, methoxyfenozide has low toxicity to beneficial insects such as pollinators and natural predators, making it suitable for integrated pest management (IPM) programs.
The compound is applied as a foliar spray and offers good rainfastness and residual activity. It degrades rapidly in the environment, reducing the risk of long-term residue buildup. Due to its favorable environmental and safety profile, it is widely used in both conventional and sustainable farming systems.
