Product Description:
Picloram is a systemic herbicide widely used for controlling broadleaf weeds and woody plants. It is particularly effective in rangeland, pasture, and non-crop areas where long-term vegetation management is needed. Due to its persistence and ability to move through soil, it is often applied to control invasive species and unwanted brush in forestry and rights-of-way such as roadsides and power lines.
It works by mimicking plant growth hormones, causing uncontrolled growth that ultimately leads to plant death. Picloram is especially useful against hard-to-kill species like thistles, nettles, and certain shrubs. It is commonly used in mixtures with other herbicides to broaden the spectrum of control.
Because of its soil mobility and long residual activity, care must be taken to avoid runoff into sensitive areas or near desirable vegetation, as it can cause damage to non-target plants. Its use is restricted in areas with high leaching potential or near water sources due to environmental concerns.
