Product Description:
Used in the treatment of malaria, particularly for the radical cure of *Plasmodium vivax* and *Plasmodium ovale* infections by targeting the dormant liver stages (hypnozoites) to prevent relapse. It is also employed as a transmission-blocking agent in areas aiming for malaria elimination, as it effectively reduces gametocyte transmission from humans to mosquitoes. Often administered in combination with other antimalarial drugs to ensure complete clearance of the parasite. Requires testing for glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) deficiency prior to use due to the risk of hemolytic anemia.
