Used to treat acute migraine attacks with or without aura in adults. It works by narrowing blood vessels around the brain and reducing substances in the body that can trigger headache pain, nausea, sensitivity to light and sound, and other migraine symptoms. It is not intended for prevention of migraines or for use in hemiplegic or basilar migraines. Most effective when taken at the first sign of a migraine. Available in tablet, orally disintegrating tablet, and nasal spray forms for rapid absorption. Should not be used frequently to avoid medication-overuse headaches.
