Used as a highly sterically hindered phosphine ligand in transition metal catalysis, particularly in cross-coupling reactions such as Suzuki-Miyaura and Buchwald-Hartwig aminations. Its rigid adamantyl groups enhance catalyst stability and promote reductive elimination, improving reaction efficiency and selectivity. Effective in palladium-catalyzed C–N and C–C bond formations where conventional ligands may fail. Also applied in the synthesis of pharmaceuticals and functional materials requiring mild reaction conditions and high functional group tolerance.
