2,2'-Oxybis(N,N-di-n-octylacetamide), commonly known as TODGA, is a specialty chemical used primarily as an extractant in liquid-liquid extraction processes. It is highly effective for separating and recovering actinides and lanthanides from nuclear fuel reprocessing streams and rare earth element ores. The diglycolamide structure provides excellent selectivity for trivalent f-block elements, enabling efficient complexation and transfer into organic phases such as n-dodecane. Additionally, it finds applications in analytical chemistry for the preconcentration and purification of metal ions, as well as in hydrometallurgical processes for recycling rare earths.
