Silk Moist EFLS-F (Sodium Lauroyl Hydrolyzed Silk)
Acylated silk-protein surfactant concentrate (27% active) for mild shampoos and cleansers, combining foam and cleansing with a softer conditioned afterfeel.
Silk Moist EFLS-F (Sodium Lauroyl Hydrolyzed Silk) is an acylated silk-protein surfactant concentrate designed for mild skin and hair cleansing systems that need both foam performance and a softer conditioned afterfeel.
Attaching a lauroyl group to hydrolyzed silk makes the peptide system more surface-active than ordinary hydrolyzed silk, so the raw material can contribute cleansing and foam while still carrying the sensory profile associated with silk peptides. In practice this type of material is used to reduce stripped feel, improve combability and support a smoother feel on hair and skin in rinse-off formulas.
This grade is supplied as a transparent light-yellow liquid with active matter 27±2%, soluble solids not less than 30%, and product pH 4.0-6.0. The silk feedstock is described as upcycled from waste generated during silk processing, and the finished raw material already contains alcohol and phenoxyethanol as part of the commercial solution.
Product Description: Sodium Lauroyl Hydrolyzed Silk functions mainly through formulation practice rather than human clinical claim data. The silk-derived peptide backbone contributes a conditioned, smoother feel, while the lauroyl modification gives an anionic cleansing character with useful foam generation. For formulators, the value of this raw material is that it can sit in mild shampoo, facial wash, body wash, hand wash and shaving systems where a conventional detergent-only surfactant base may feel too harsh or leave hair rough after rinsing. The silk amino acid profile, especially glycine, alanine and serine, is commonly associated with the smooth, light touch of silk, while sericin-associated hydroxyl functionality is often used to explain the moisturized feel seen with silk-derived cosmetic materials.
Usage: Suitable for shampoos, facial cleansers, body washes, hand soaps, baby wash, shaving foam and other mild rinse-off systems that need cleansing, foam and a more conditioned afterfeel.
Mixing method:
- Add into the water phase or directly into the surfactant blend. Room-temperature processing is preferred; avoid prolonged heating above 60°C.
- Because the raw material is already surface-active and foams easily, add with gentle stirring near the middle or later part of batching when practical to reduce process foam.
- Best performance is typically achieved in mildly acidic systems around pH 4-6. It is compatible with amphoteric and nonionic surfactants and can be blended with other mild anionic surfactants, but viscosity and salt response should be rechecked in each surfactant system.
Usage rate: Use 0.5-5% of the raw material, depending on whether it is acting as a sensory-support surfactant additive or a more visible part of the cleansing base.
This 27% active concentrate delivers about 0.135-1.35% Sodium Lauroyl Hydrolyzed Silk to the finished formula. A typical 2% use level delivers about 0.54% active matter.
Product characteristics: Transparent light-yellow liquid with mild characteristic odor.
Solubility: Soluble in water and compatible with surfactant systems; partially soluble in ethanol.
Low-foam manufacturing technique is recommended during batching, but the finished formula can still deliver rich foam depending on the surfactant blend.
