Used as a precursor in the synthesis of cadmium-based nanomaterials, particularly cadmium sulfide and cadmium selenide quantum dots, which are applied in optoelectronic devices and solar cells. Employed in electroplating baths to deposit cadmium coatings for corrosion resistance in aerospace and automotive components. Acts as a catalyst or catalyst precursor in certain organic reactions, including esterification and condensation processes. Utilized in analytical chemistry for the determination of sulfides and in the preparation of standard solutions.
