Product Description:
Used as a mordant in textile dyeing to help fix dyes onto fabrics, especially with natural fibers. Employed in the production of lead-based pigments and coatings, though this application has declined due to toxicity concerns. Served historically in small amounts in cosmetics, such as hair dyes, but is now largely discontinued for safety reasons. Occasionally used in laboratory settings as a reagent for detecting the presence of sulfides, forming a characteristic black precipitate of lead sulfide. Also utilized in the preparation of other lead compounds for specialized chemical processes. Due to its toxicity, handling requires strict safety controls, and its use is regulated in many industries.
