Employed in medical treatments for certain skin conditions like sporotrichosis, a fungal infection, and sometimes used in expectorant formulations to help loosen mucus in respiratory illnesses.
Widely used in chemical laboratories and industrial processes, such as in the preparation of iodine solutions for disinfection and as a catalyst or reagent in organic synthesis.
Found in photography and in some disinfectants and antiseptics due to its ability to form complexes with iodine.
