Product Description:
Used as a source of iodine in table salt to prevent iodine deficiency disorders, especially in regions where dietary iodine is low. It is preferred over potassium iodide in some areas because it is more stable under high heat and humidity. Also used in analytical chemistry for titration methods to determine the concentration of reducing agents. Employed in the production of disinfectants and in some cases as a food additive to improve dough conditioning in bread making. Additionally, utilized in the preparation of radioprotective agents due to its ability to block radioactive iodine uptake by the thyroid gland during nuclear emergencies.
