Used as a key ingredient in buffer solutions for biochemical and analytical applications due to its ability to maintain stable pH levels. Widely applied in the production of fiberglass and insulation materials for its fluxing and strengthening properties. Employed in metal surface cleaning and soldering as a flux to remove oxides. Common component in laundry detergents and cleaning agents for its water-softening and stain-removal capabilities. Utilized in the manufacture of borosilicate glass for its thermal resistance. Also found in cosmetics and skincare products as a buffering and emulsifying agent, and in some cases as a preservative. Historically used in wood preservation and fire retardants due to its ability to inhibit combustion.
