Oil Stick 2046 is a premixed oil-phase gelling agent designed for polar oil systems, especially octyldodecanol. After melting and cooling, it builds a microscopic fibrous network that can convert fluid oils into structured oil gels ranging from soft jellies to hard sticks.

This format is intended for formulators who want the performance of glutamide oil gellants in a more convenient ready-to-melt system. The premix keeps the original sensory profile of the chosen oil more intact than many wax-heavy structures while still providing viscosity, body, and stick strength.

The premix re-melts at about 100°C, so it is suitable for high-structure oil gels and stick systems that must remain stable during storage at elevated temperature. It is especially useful when building deodorant sticks, lip products, anhydrous make-up, hair waxes, and gelled oil systems.

Product Description: In use, Oil Stick 2046 must first be fully melted, then combined with the remaining oil-phase ingredients while still fluid. As the batch cools, the premix forms a fine fibrous network inside the oil and turns the liquid phase into a structured gel. The exact hardness depends strongly on the oil polarity, total use level, and the presence of other structuring materials, so final hardness and clarity must always be checked in the target formula.

The system is particularly relevant for octyldodecanol-based structures, but it can also build hardness in silicone, mineral oil, and triglyceride systems. In more viscous oils such as polyisobutene or dimer acid esters, it can be used at low level mainly as a viscosity builder to improve body and handling rather than to create a fully rigid stick.

Because this is a premixed structuring system rather than a direct skin active, performance claims are formulation-driven. The key benefit is process convenience and reproducible oil-gel build, not biological efficacy.

Usage: Stick antiperspirants and deodorants, lip gloss, lipstick, mascara, eye shadow, anhydrous or cream foundation, viscous body oils, oil gels, skin creams, hair gels, hair waxes, hair creams, and sun care gels or creams.

Mixing method:

- Heat Oil Stick 2046 until fully melted before combining with the main oil phase.

- Add the remaining oil-phase ingredients while the batch is still fluid, typically around 40-80°C, with steady stirring.

- Allow the system to cool and stand at room temperature for several hours so the fibrous oil-gel network can finish setting.

Usage rate: 1-20% depending on the target hardness and oil system. Lower levels around 1-2% are often enough when the goal is mainly viscosity build in already-viscous oils.

Product characteristics: Off-white to pale yellow waxy solid premix with slight characteristic odor.

Solubility: Oil-phase ingredient. Suitable for polar oils and compatible with many silicone or hydrocarbon oil systems after melting. Not water-soluble.

Storage: Store tightly closed at room temperature, away from direct heat. Repeated unnecessary heating should be avoided once the product has been melted.
