GM-BP (Diazolidinyl Urea, IPBC)
Compact DU + IPBC broad‑spectrum preservative for personal‑care formulas; add during cool‑down; effective across pH 3–8.

GM-BP is a synergistic preservative system combining Diazolidinyl Urea (DU) and Iodopropynyl Butylcarbamate (IPBC) for broad-spectrum protection in personal‑care formulations.

The DU + IPBC pair provides rapid, reliable control of bacteria, yeast and molds at very low use levels and remains effective across pH 3–8. For best performance, add during cool‑down to protect IPBC activity.

Typical finished‑formula levels are 0.1–0.5% depending on system bioburden and interactions; confirm by preservative efficacy testing (challenge test) on the final formula.

Model/System Key Endpoints Implication
Finished formula (PET/challenge test) Log reduction vs. bacteria/yeast/mold to pass criteria (e.g., ISO 11930) Confirms effective dose
pH-compatibility window Active across pH 3.0–8.0 Fits most cosmetics
Thermal handling Add during cool‑down; avoid >50°C Protects IPBC activity
Product Description: Compact, broad‑spectrum preservation for emulsions, surfactant systems and water‑containing products. Low sensory impact at use levels as low as 0.1% in many liquid bases. Works in a wide pH window (3–8). Not recommended for aerosolized products. Observe market‑specific restrictions for IPBC and labeling for formaldehyde‑releasing donors where applicable.

Usage: Face/body lotions and creams, serums and toners, shampoos/cleansers/conditioners, and wet wipes (observe regional limits).

Mixing method:

- Add to the water phase or post‑emulsification during cool‑down; do not exceed 50°C.

- Target pH 3.0–8.0; verify with PET/challenge testing.

- Optional boosters: chelators (e.g., EDTA or phytate) and humectant glycols under high bioburden.

Usage rate: 0.1–0.5

Product characteristics: Colorless to pale‑yellow viscous liquid; slight characteristic odor; relative density 1.15–1.25 (20°C).

Solubility: Soluble in water and glycols (e.g., propylene glycol); readily dispersible in emulsions.
