description Product Description
Nepafenac is primarily used as a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) in ophthalmology. It is applied topically in the form of eye drops to reduce inflammation and pain following cataract surgery. The compound is designed to penetrate the cornea efficiently and is converted into its active form, amfenac, within ocular tissues. This allows for targeted inhibition of cyclooxygenase enzymes, reducing the production of prostaglandins that cause inflammation and discomfort. It is also used to manage postoperative inflammation in other types of eye surgeries and may help prevent cystoid macular edema in high-risk patients. Due to its favorable safety profile and efficacy, nepafenac is commonly prescribed in short-term postoperative care.
