Due to its potent and prolonged antipsychotic effect, it is especially useful in patients who have difficulty adhering to daily medication regimens. It helps control symptoms such as hallucinations, delusions, and thought disorders. Not typically used for acute agitation or short-term treatment. Use requires careful monitoring for extrapyramidal side effects and tardive dyskinesia due to its strong dopamine receptor blockade.
