Used primarily in electrical equipment such as capacitors and transformers for its insulating properties and chemical stability. Also found application in hydraulic fluids, heat transfer systems, and as a plasticizer in paints and coatings. Due to its persistence and toxicity, its use has been largely discontinued and it is now regulated under environmental and health safety guidelines.
