Used primarily as an antiplatelet agent to prevent blood clot formation, particularly in patients with ischemic cardiovascular diseases. It selectively blocks serotonin 5-HT2A receptors on platelets, reducing platelet aggregation and vasoconstriction. Commonly prescribed in some countries to improve circulation in chronic arterial occlusion and to reduce the risk of stroke or myocardial infarction in high-risk patients. Also investigated for improving microcirculation in diabetic patients and managing peripheral vascular complications.
