Used as a corrosion inhibitor in industrial water treatment systems, particularly in cooling water circuits. Effective in protecting carbon steel and copper alloys from pitting and general corrosion under low to moderate pH conditions. Commonly applied in combination with azole-based additives to enhance metal surface passivation. Also utilized in closed-loop heating systems to prevent scale formation and maintain heat transfer efficiency. Shows good compatibility with biocides and dispersants in formulated treatment programs.
