Used as a mordant in textile dyeing to help fix dyes onto fabrics, especially in natural dye processes. It improves color fastness and enhances hue intensity. Also applied in the preparation of aluminum-based catalysts and in the synthesis of fine ceramics due to its thermal decomposition properties. Additionally, it finds use in water treatment as a flocculating agent to remove impurities and phosphates. In some cases, it is utilized in the production of specialty glasses and coatings where controlled release of aluminum and oxalic acid is beneficial.
