Used in targeted cancer therapy, particularly in antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs) to deliver cytotoxic agents specifically to tumor cells expressing the KAAG1 antigen. The antibody component binds selectively to KAAG1, which is overexpressed in certain cancers, enabling precise delivery of the potent chemotherapeutic agent MMAE. Upon internalization, MMAE is released intracellularly, inducing microtubule disruption and apoptosis in cancer cells while minimizing damage to healthy tissues. This approach enhances therapeutic efficacy and reduces systemic toxicity compared to conventional chemotherapy. Currently explored in preclinical and early clinical development for solid tumors with KAAG1 expression.
