Used as a ligand in coordination chemistry to form metal complexes with transition metals, particularly ruthenium, iron, and zinc. These complexes exhibit interesting photophysical and electrochemical properties, making them suitable for applications in organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) and dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs). The furan and terpyridine moieties enhance electron delocalization and metal binding stability, improving device efficiency. Also investigated in supramolecular chemistry for constructing molecular sensors and switches due to its rigid structure and selective binding behavior.
