Product Description:
TCEP Solution is widely used as a reducing agent in biochemical and molecular biology applications. It effectively breaks disulfide bonds in proteins, helping to denature and solubilize them for analysis in techniques like SDS-PAGE and mass spectrometry. TCEP is preferred over other reducing agents such as DTT due to its higher stability at low and high pH, stronger reducing power, and resistance to oxidation in air. It is also used in protein folding studies, where precise control over disulfide bond formation is required. In addition, TCEP finds use in RNA work to prevent degradation by inactivating ribonucleases through reduction of their disulfide bonds. Its cell permeability allows for use in certain in vivo applications, although this is limited by stability in biological systems. TCEP is commonly included in lysis buffers, electrophoresis sample buffers, and storage buffers for thiol-containing compounds.
