Product Description:
Used as an optical material for infrared applications due to its high transmission in the infrared spectrum, especially in the 0.5 to 20 µm range. Commonly found in thermal imaging systems, FLIR (forward-looking infrared) devices, and infrared spectroscopy equipment. Also used in laser optics, including CO2 laser windows and lenses, because of its low absorption and high resistance to thermal shock. Additionally serves as a semiconductor material in electroluminescent devices and thin-film solar cells. Its wide bandgap makes it suitable for blue and ultraviolet light emitters when doped or alloyed with other materials.
