Piperine (95% Purity)

Natural piperine (95%) used as a topical bioenhancer / penetration enhancer; dissolve in suitable solvents and use ~0.5–2%.

Piperine (95% Purity) is a naturally derived alkaloid from black pepper (Piper nigrum). In topical formulations it is primarily used as a bioenhancer / penetration enhancer to help improve delivery of certain actives through the stratum corneum.

Piperine is lipophilic and is typically used after dissolving in an appropriate solvent. It can be combined with other cosmetic‑allowed delivery solvents to improve solubilization and to target higher skin flux at the same active loading.

In skin permeation screening, adding piperine to a curcumin-containing system increased the measured flux from ~4.29 µg/cm²/h to ~8.10 µg/cm²/h (≈2×). Research also reports synergy with strong carriers such as DMSO; however, DMSO is not used in cosmetics, so focus on cosmetic‑acceptable solvents.

Product Description: Off‑white to pale‑yellow powder (95% assay). Acts as a delivery enhancer for selected actives when properly solubilized in the formula.

Usage: Use in leave‑on products where improved delivery is desired (e.g., spot care, serums/creams with difficult-to-deliver lipophilic actives). Evaluate irritation potential and start low.

Mixing method:

- Pre‑dissolve piperine in a compatible solvent (e.g., Ethoxydiglycol/Transcutol CG, Dimethyl Isosorbide (DMI), or Laurocapram) until fully clear.

- Add the piperine solution into the formula during cool‑down; avoid heating above 40°C.

- For emulsions, add into the oil/solvent phase first, then proceed with emulsification; confirm no crystallization on stability.

Usage rate: 0.5–2% (recommended 1%)

Product characteristics: Fine powder; may show light yellow hue. Ensure complete dissolution to avoid sediment.

Solubility: Soluble in selected delivery solvents (Ethoxydiglycol, DMI, Laurocapram). Not water‑soluble; use co‑solvent strategy as needed.

Storage: Store tightly closed, protected from light and heat. For long‑term storage, keep refrigerated. Expected shelf life ≥ 2 years when stored properly.
