“Direct skin evidence: topical hydrogen peroxide 15% carbamide gel was reported as a potential treatment to reduce ecchymosis/bruising discoloration, but authors stated further safety and efficacy study is needed.”
Molenda MA, Collins CC, Lei KY, et al. Peroxide as a novel treatment for ecchymoses
“Closest ingredient-family evidence: hydrogen peroxide has antimicrobial wound-cleansing activity and may influence wound repair biology, but topical use requires careful concentration control due to cytotoxicity concerns.”
“A placebo-controlled double-blind randomized clinical trial found 10% carbamide peroxide whitening formulations effective for tooth whitening while comparing sensitivity outcomes among formulations.”
“Carbamide peroxide decomposes to urea plus hydrogen peroxide; urea-family topical evidence supports skin hydration, barrier integrity, and keratolytic benefits, not peroxide-specific skin whitening.”
“Carbamide peroxide tooth-whitening gels, including 10% carbamide peroxide, showed antibacterial activity against cariogenic microorganisms in vitro and reduced salivary mutans streptococci/lactobacilli levels in a clinical context; this is supportive oral-care evidence, not a primary whitening endpoint.”
