Alpha-Ketoglutaric acid (a-KG) is an essential component in the synthesis of various amino acids in the body.
In laboratory research, 1% concentration of alpha-Ketoglutaric acid at 12 weeks had the following effects:
1. a-Ketoglutarate (a-KG) Stimulated Procollagen Production in Cultured Human Dermal Fibroblasts (a-KG Stimulates Procollagen Synthesis in Fibroblast)
2. a-Ketoglutarate (a-KG) Enhanced Prolidase Activity in Cultured Human Dermal Fibroblasts ( a-KG can help enhance the function of Prolidase, which is an important part of collagen synthesis).
3. Decreased UVB-Induced Wrinkle Formation Following Long-Term Topical Application of a-KG on the Dorsal Skin of Hairless Mice (Long-term use of a-KG at 12 weeks can help reduce wrinkles. caused by UVB stimulation)
Compared with the use of a-KG with Retinoic Acid when UV light is applied to the skin to stimulate the appearance of wrinkles, it was found that a-KG can help reduce the appearance of wrinkles.
