High-purity, lightweight synthetic C13-15 Alkane emollient that gives a hemisqualane-like dry touch while improving slip and spreadability in modern skincare and makeup.
C13-15 Alkane is a high-purity, lightweight synthetic hydrocarbon emollient designed to deliver a very dry, silky feel on skin and hair.
It belongs to the same sensorial family as hemisqualane-type emollients, providing excellent spreadability, fast absorption, and a non-greasy finish while remaining very low in odor and color.
Because it is made from a controlled synthetic source, C13-15 Alkane offers consistent quality from batch to batch and is easy to integrate into a wide range of modern skincare and color-cosmetic formulations.
Product Description: C13-15 Alkane functions primarily as a lightweight emollient and texture modifier. It reduces tack from humectants and film formers, improves slip in silicone-free systems, and helps thin rich oils or butters without sacrificing conditioning. It is non-comedogenic, works well on oily and acne-prone skin, and can be used on both face and body as well as hair and scalp. In water-in-oil or oil-in-water emulsions it improves spreadability and play time, while in anhydrous systems (oils, balms, sticks) it provides a dry-touch finish and better payoff.
It is compatible with esters, triglyceride oils, silicones, many UV filters, and common cosmetic actives, and is typically stable over the normal cosmetic pH ranges and temperatures used in hot-process emulsions.
Usage: Suitable for facial and body moisturizers, serums, sunscreens, makeup (primers, foundations, sticks), hair oils and leave-on conditioners, and other leave-on skincare products where a light, non-greasy emollient is desired.
Mixing method: Add to the oil phase. C13-15 Alkane can be heated in typical hot-process emulsions; where possible, add part or all of the amount in the cool-down phase to fine-tune texture. Mix until completely uniform before emulsification or filling.
Usage rate: 1-100%
- Low levels (~1-5%) to improve slip and reduce tack.
- Medium levels (~5-20%) as a main emollient and texture modifier.
- High levels up to 100% in simple oils or bases where C13-15 Alkane is the primary fluid.
Product appearance: Colorless, low-viscosity liquid with low odor.
Solubility: Oil-soluble; insoluble in water.
Storage: For long-term storage, keep tightly closed at room temperature, protected from direct sunlight and heat. Under proper storage, shelf life is at least 2 years.
