Glyceryl Stearate Citrate (Saponification 230-260, Germany)

Cosmetics Code: 6855

Glyceryl Stearate Citrate is a naturally-derived emulsifier (oil in water) (warning: it is natural-derived). It cannot be claimed to be 100% natural because, although it has natural origins But you have to go through a chemical process to get Glyceryl Stearate Citrate.

Grade: Saponification value (SV) 230–260 mg KOH/g (Germany).

Saponification value (SV) and emulsification behavior:

"Saponification value" (SV) is the mg of KOH needed to saponify (break) the ester bonds in 1 g of a fatty‑acid ester emulsifier. For ester‑type emulsifiers, SV is a practical clue to the average fatty‑acid chain length and molecular weight.

Higher SV typically indicates shorter average fatty‑acid chains / lower average molecular weight (more ester groups per gram), which tends to behave slightly more hydrophilic and often supports oil‑in‑water (O/W) emulsions and smaller droplets more easily.

Lower SV typically indicates longer average chains / higher average molecular weight (fewer ester groups per gram), which tends to be more lipophilic and can suit higher oil loads or W/O‑leaning systems.

Alkaline drift note: higher‑SV materials have more saponifiable ester content per gram, so under alkaline conditions they can hydrolyze/saponify more, potentially changing pH, foaming, viscosity, and emulsion stability over time.

This grade: SV 230–260 mg KOH/g (Germany). Use SV as a formulation guide; final performance still depends on oil phase, co‑emulsifiers, salts/polymers, and processing.

Glyceryl Stearate Citrate, if used alone, acts to coordinate the formula. The texture will be quite liquid. But it has good stability. If you want to achieve thickness Must be used together with thickener/gel maker or use together with texturizer or use with any type of wax

Glyceryl Stearate Citrate has the following advantages:

Has a good texture Give us a recipe that's worth using. not too heavy and not too light

Highly stable Can bind oil up to 40% and can be used as a standalone emulsifier.

High security Gentle on the skin, free of PEG (PEG-Free emulsifier).

Example of using Glyceryl Stearate Citrate to create a cream:

Oil part:

Jojoba Oil 25%

Glyceryl Stearate Citrate 3%

Water part:

Vitamin B5 1%

Glycerin 5%

Xanthan Gum 0.5%

Mild Preserved Eco 1%

Water until 100% complete

Heat the oil mixture until it melts together at 80 degrees.

Mix the water ingredients together, then heat to 80 degrees.

While blending the water Gradually add the oil portion.

Continue blending until the formula cools and sets.

Usage: As a cream binder (emulsifier)

Mixing method: Dissolve in oil. Suitable for formulas with a pH range of 5.0-8.0.

Usage rate: 0.5-4% depending on the proportion of oil in the formula. Recommended 3.5% with a maximum of 40% of the oil combined.

Product appearance: Light colored powder, flakes

Solubility: soluble in oil (Melting Point: 60C)

Storage: Can be stored at room temperature. But close the bottle cap tightly. Then completely protected from sunlight or heat. The product has a minimum shelf life of 2 years.
