Technical Overview

WaterSil™ 8/12 is a tailored blend of PEG-8 Dimethicone, PEG-10 Dimethicone and PEG-12 Dimethicone designed specifically to reduce tackiness in clear, water-based gels. By combining low-molecular-weight polyether-modified silicones, it delivers:

• Efficient Detackification
  The PEG segments promote compatibility with high-water-content matrices, while the dimethicone backbone imparts a thin, lubricious film that breaks adhesive interactions between gel polymers and skin surfaces.

• Broad Compatibility
  Stable in pH 4–8; compatible with anionic, nonionic and cationic thickeners, gelling agents (e.g., carbomers, hydroxyethylcellulose) and common surfactants.

• Easy Processing
  Incorporate at 0.5–3 wt% into the water phase (40–60 °C) under gentle stirring. No special shear or emulsifiers required.
