Octyl methoxycinnamate or abbreviation OMC or OM-Cinnamate or Octinoxate is an organic sunscreen. Derived from Cinnamic Acid (an acid found in the Cinnamon plant) that is effective in protecting against UVB light.

Ultra-Pure™ Grade: very light color (non yellowing), very low odor. Suitable for highest quality formulation

Popularly called by trade names UVINUL MC80, Octinoxate or EHMC, but with very low color/odor due to its higher purity than average.

OMC can protect against UV at wavelengths in the range 290-330nm, which is the wavelength of UVB.

FDA rules for using Octyl methoxycinnamate in any type of cosmetics

Europe, Australia (including Thailand): not more than 10%

Japan: no more than 20%

USA: not more than 7.5%

*OMC cannot be used with Avobenzone as it will make Avobenzone unstable*

*OMC should be used together with antioxidants in the formula, such as adding Vitamin E Acetate 0.1% to help increase stability*

*Using a large proportion of OMC in the formula. It will make the formula shiny. When applied to the skin because OMC has a high refractive index*

Usage rate: 1-10%

Appearance: Oily liquid It is light yellow.

Mixing: Mix in oil.
