Microneedle Sponge (Sponge Extract, 270micron Length, 0.15 Micron Diameter) is a hydrolyzed sponge microneedle powder for cosmetic skin-care formulas. This variant has a nominal spicule length of 270µm and diameter of 0.15µm.
The sponge-derived spicules are naturally silica-rich and provide a controlled physical micro-needle texture. They are used when a formula needs exfoliating skin feel, a tightening sensation, or improved contact between the formula and the skin surface.
Choose the needle size by target skin feel and application area: shorter grades feel gentler, while longer grades create a stronger prickling/tightening sensation and should be reserved for experienced users or professional concepts.
Product Description: Fine cosmetic powder containing hydrolyzed sponge spicules. The 270µm / D0.15µm grade is selected for formulas where this exact needle feel is required. Avoid use on eye contour, irritated skin, broken skin, or immediately after aggressive exfoliation.
Usage: Creams, gels, masks, serums, exfoliating treatments, tightening-feel products, and active-delivery support formulas.
Mixing method:
- Add at the final step and stir gently until evenly dispersed.
- Do not homogenize after adding microneedle sponge; excessive shear can break the spicules and change the skin feel.
- For easier wetting, pre-disperse the powder in glycerin or a compatible glycol, then add to the finished base below 40°C.
Usage rate: 0.5-4.0% (0.5-2.0% for general anti-aging/tightening products; 2.0-4.0% for stronger exfoliating concepts).
