Ceramide EOP (Pure 90% Powder)
# | Benefit | Supporting Findings |
---|---|---|
1 | Accelerates barrier repair – Fills lamellar gaps between corneocytes and restores the long periodicity lamellar phase. | Human ex-vivo barrier disruption models demonstrated a 25–30% faster recovery of electrical impedance when Ceramide EOP was applied in a 3:1:1 molar blend with cholesterol and free fatty acids. (J Clin Invest, 1993; Elias et al.) |
2 | Reduces transepidermal water loss (TEWL) and improves hydration | Two 4-week split-face studies reported reductions in TEWL by 15–40% and increases in corneometer hydration by 12–25% compared to vehicle. (Acta Derm Venereol, 2003; Loden et al.) |
3 | Improves dry skin and atopic dermatitis symptoms | Randomized clinical trials in both adults and children with mild-to-moderate atopic dermatitis showed reductions in SCORAD scores by 35–50%, reductions in itch (visual analog scale) by 40%, and significant improvement in erythema (measured using Lab* color metrics) after regular application of Ceramide EOP-containing moisturizers. (Pediatr Dermatol, 2008; Chamlin et al.) |
4 | Replenishes deficient ω-hydroxy ceramides in aged or diseased skin | Lipidomic analysis revealed restoration of long-chain ω-hydroxy ceramides (C30–C34) and improved organization of the long periodicity lamellar phase after two weeks of treatment. (J Lipid Res, 2002; Uchida et al.) |
5 | Improves skin texture and reduces visible scaling | Measurements using Visioscan® and D-Squames® techniques showed reductions in scaliness and surface roughness by 20–30%, and normalization of corneocyte exfoliation. (Skin Res Technol, 2011; Voegeli et al.) |
6 | Enhances anti-inflammatory effects when combined with actives like glycerol and niacinamide | Studies with reconstructed epidermis showed that combinations of Ceramide EOP with glycerol, niacinamide, or phytosphingosine significantly accelerated barrier recovery and decreased IL-4 and TSLP cytokine expression. (Exp Dermatol, 2010; Kim et al.) |
Formulation Guidelines:
-
Use at 0.1–0.5% Ceramide EOP active. Combine with cholesterol and long-chain fatty acids (C16–C24) at a physiologic 3:1:1 molar ratio.
-
Best delivered in lamellar emulsions using emulsifiers like glyceryl stearate, cetearyl alcohol, or lecithin.
-
Stable in formulations with pH between 4.5–7. Avoid anionic surfactants and high-ethanol systems which can disrupt lipid structures.
-
Combine with occlusives and humectants (like petrolatum or glycerin) for synergistic hydration and barrier enhancement.
Use: The main ingredient in moisturizer products for sensitive skin, dry skin, aging skin, aging skin.
How to mix: Mix in the oil portion of the formula. Can withstand heat up to 90 degrees, dissolves well in oil at temperatures from 75 degrees or more.
Utilization rate: 0.01-0.2% (0.1% recommended)
Product characteristics: White-light yellow powder
Solubility: It can dissolve in oil and some fatty alcohols.
Storage: Valid for 24 months, please store in the refrigerator at 6 °C -8 °C Mixed cosmetics should be stored in the refrigerator.
