Melting Point 72.5C (Range: 70-75C)
Wax or wax obtained from the candelilla plant is a solid, yellow-brown, slightly translucent wax.
High purity, processed into flakes, can be easily used to mix lipstick, lip balm, and hair wax.
Candelilla Wax has a special feature that helps to add shine to the formula (e.g. add glossiness to the lipstick) and has a melting point of approximately 70 degrees.
Recommendations for choosing each type of wax:
Beeswax - comes from bees. Its main feature is that it is soft and has a lot of texture (because it has a lower melting point than other types of wax). It is suitable for use as an emollient to make the skin soft and smooth. It has a low melting point. If the formula requires a firmness (such as lipstick), beeswax should not be used alone. Beeswax (acts as an emollient to nourish the skin) should be used together with other types of wax that are harder and have a higher melting point for the strength of the lipstick.
Candellila Wax - Derived from a plant (Euphorbia Cerifera), it is softer than Carnauba Wax but harder than Beeswax and has a higher melting point. Its special feature is that it helps to add shine to lipsticks, in addition to the oils in lipsticks.
Microcrystalline Wax, Ozokerite Wax, Rice Bran Wax - They are known for their ability to absorb more oil than other waxes and have a smooth texture. Therefore, they are often used in lip balm or lipstick formulas to create a smooth texture and prevent sweating (or the separation of oil from the formula).
Carnauba Wax - derived from a plant (Copernicia Cerifera), it has a high melting point and a hard texture, making it ideal for helping to stabilize formulas that require hardness, such as lipstick. It can help prevent lipstick from melting or softening, even at high temperatures.
