Carbomer features:

- Cannot tolerate electrolyte (if the formula contains an electrolyte and requires a clear gel texture Recommended to use Pro Polymer Or Xanthan Gum Which can withstand electrolyte instead)

- Not able to tolerate acidity (pH less than 5) when the formula is acidic. The gel will liquid and will not form. If the formula requires a low acid pH, select it. Pro Polymer or Xanthan Gum Or Hydroxyethyl Cellulose represent

- Able to create gels Without using heat But use the method to adjust the pH value by adding alkali such as Triethanolamine or Sodium Hydroxide Please see the instructions for use below.

- able to withstand heat well Without changing the consistency of the gel Compared to other thickener gels, which when heated above 60 degrees, the texture will liquefy.

 

How to use Carbomer:

1. Dissolve Carbomer in water (or water-phase) by using the amount according to the desired thickness of the gel. Recommended starting at 1%

2. Add alkali such as Triethanolamine With the ratio between Triethanolamine : Carbomer about 0.5: 1 (use Triethanolamine 0.5% with Carbomer 1%) up to 1.5: 1 (use Triethanolamine 1.5% with Carbomer 1%)

3.Stir or blender until the gel texture

* Other ingredients Can be added either before or after gel formation. But if it is an ingredient that cannot tolerate acids It should be added after gel formation as Carbomer is acidic. May destroy ingredients that cannot tolerate acids Therefore, these ingredients should be added. After adjusting the pH with alkali in step 2.

 

Usage: For all kinds of products To increase the viscosity Add a gel (thickening)

Mixing method: Mixed in water (water-phase) by adjusting the pH to the range 6-7 with alkali Triethanolamine Should not spin over 2500 rpm This will damage the polymer and weaken the formula.

Rate of use: 0.5-3% (depending on the desired viscosity)
